10PATX Summer Tuesdays

Last night was our first Tuesday with Curtis Hembroff out of town, so it was our first Tuesday of the summer schedule.

I (Zack) will be coaching on Monday nights at 6PM’s Technique and 7PM Advanced, while Lauren Sears has Wednesday nights covered.

A combination of Joseph Gomez (who has been operating 10th Planet Round Rock for the past few years), Austin York, and Tito Cruz will be covering the lunch classes along with others, so we have most of Curtis’ schedule covered by some of our most experienced coaches.

Our Tuesday nights at 6 PM before 10-Round Tuesday will be a little more like what 10th Planet Airlock is doing in Bastrop at 7 PM on Thursday nights.

Speaking of that, I’m sitting in Bastrop at a coffee shop right now waiting for this week’s episode of “Airlock After Dark” with Justin Flood from the Sheep Dog Response Academy.

I am making the trip out there on many Thursday nights and would love to see you out there for these great sessions to build the bond with another one of our Moons.

If you are at 10PATX on Thursday nights though, you have the benefit of learning from 10PATX black belt Casey Champagne at 6 and 7 PM!

With so much talent in our room, our system, and our community, we have decided to make the Tuesday night 6PM prior to 10-Round Tuesday into a rotating group.

This week, May 19th, it started with Colin Carr.

Colin has been training with us since 10th Planet Austin was in the back of what was then the DeFranco’s Gym at the Onnit Academy in the late-2010s. If you missed the black belt promotions in December, here was the video that Noah put together for Colin.

Just last month, Colin went 4-1 at the highly competitive ADCC West Coast Trials, finishing in 4th place, before suffering a setback that led to his only loss on the day with a previous knee injury becoming re-aggravated.

We will be looking to spotlight other coaches who are regularly on the schedule on other nights in that Tuesday night spot, plus other 10th Planet Moonheads in the area.

But this upcoming Tuesday night, we have a special guest in Dorian Olivarez!

Class Passes will be $35, while Day Passes will be $50.

At only 20-years old, Dorian has racked up some impressive accolades:

·      #1 in the World at 155-pounds

·      #3 in the World at 145-pounds

·      #6 Pound for Pound in the World

·      2-time ADCC Trials Champion

·      IBJJF No-Gi World Champion

·      Combat Jiu Jitsu World Champion

·      WNO Lightweight Champion

·      2-time Folkstyle Wrestling National Champion

Dorian will be coaching our 11 AM and 6 PM classes on Tuesday.

With it being the summer months and our schedule having some openings in those two slots while Curtis is in Alaska, we have the potential to spotlight a lot of talented people this summer to help improve our team!

On the topic of Tuesdays, we are also offering a deal this summer in regards to our Open Mat Membership where the $25 drop in fee can pay for the first month of a new member’s Open Mat Membership. After that month is up, the membership will renew at the regular price of $79 per month.

Further, our Monday and Wednesday night’s 5:30 PM Women’s Self Defense class will be FREE for the summer months.

There are a lot of things going on this summer to help build up the team with our increased mat space!
